"Mishma, and Dumah, Massa, Hadad, and Tema," — 1 Chronicles 1:30 (ASV)

The name Hadad, found here and in 1 Chronicles 1:50, is a well-known Syrian name. Hadar, which is noted in the margin, is an accidental corruption of this name, resulting from the close resemblance between the Hebrew letters “d” (daleth) and “r” (resh), the final letters of the two names.
