Albert Barnes Commentary 1 Chronicles 14:1

"And Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar-trees, and masons, and carpenters, to build him a house." — 1 Chronicles 14:1 (ASV)

This passage should be compared with 2 Samuel 5:11–25. The only important variations are found in the list of David’s sons (1 Chronicles 14:4–7; see the note on 1 Chronicles 3:1) and in 1 Chronicles 14:12, which adds the detail that the idols taken from the Philistines were burned.
