Albert Barnes Commentary 1 Chronicles 17:24

"And let thy name be established and magnified for ever, saying, Jehovah of hosts is the God of Israel, even a God to Israel: and the house of David thy servant is established before thee." — 1 Chronicles 17:24 (ASV)

Some prefer, And let Your name be established and magnified forever; that is, "Let not only Your promise stand firm, but let Your Name also stand firm (continue to be held in honor) and be magnified."
