"And Segub begat Jair, who had three and twenty cities in the land of Gilead." — 1 Chronicles 2:22 (ASV)

Jair, who had twenty-three cities - These are the places called “Havoth-Jair” in the earlier Scriptures (see Numbers 32:41 note), which appear to have been a number of “small towns,” or villages, in the Ledjah, the classical “Trachonitis.”
