SCRIPTURE

"And his brethren, men of valor, were two thousand and seven hundred, heads of fathers` [houses], whom king David made overseers over the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half-tribe of the Manassites, for every matter pertaining to God, and for the affairs of the king." — 1 Chronicles 26:32 (ASV)

Rulers - This term is somewhat too strong. The same kind of office was assigned to Jerijah and his brothers in the Transjordanian region as to Hashabiah and his brothers in western Palestine (1 Chronicles 26:30)—namely, a supervision over religious matters and the king's interests.
