SCRIPTURE

"and he took away the treasures of the house of Jehovah, and the treasures of the king`s house; he even took away all: and he took away all the shields of gold which Solomon had made." — 1 Kings 14:26 (ASV)

The circumstances of Shishak’s invasion, described here very briefly, are given more fully by the author of Chronicles. It is still a question whether or not the submission of the Jewish king is expressly recorded in the Karnak inscription.

Midway through the list of cities and tribes, the entry “YUDeH-MALK” occurs. Some have proposed translating this as “Judah, king,” while others regard it as the name of a Palestinian town otherwise unknown to us.
