Albert Barnes Commentary

Albert Barnes Commentary
"for his sins which he sinned in doing that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah, in walking in the way of Jeroboam, and in his sin which he did, to make Israel to sin." — 1 Kings 16:19 (ASV)
Zimri’s death illustrates the general moral that the writer of Kings draws from the entire history of the Israelite monarchs: a curse was upon them because of their persistence in Jeroboam’s sin, which, sooner or later, brought each royal house to a bloody end.
