"And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entrance of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah?" — 1 Kings 19:13 (ASV)
Mantle - The upper garment, a type of short cloak or cape—perhaps made of untanned sheepskin—which, besides the strip of leather around his loins, was the prophet's only clothing . For this action, compare the marginal references.
There came a voice to him... - The question heard before in a vision is now put to the prophet again by the Lord Himself. Elijah gives no humbler or more gentle answer. He is still satisfied with his own statement of his case.
