"So Solomon overlaid the house within with pure gold: and he drew chains of gold across before the oracle; and he overlaid it with gold." — 1 Kings 6:21 (ASV)

The house – that is, the main chamber.

The chains of gold – The definite article “the” should be omitted. Their purpose was to form a barrier between the holy place and the holy of holies.
