"There were nets of checker-work, and wreaths of chain-work, for the capitals which were upon the top of the pillars; seven for the one capital, and seven for the other capital." — 1 Kings 7:17 (ASV)
Nets... A better translation is “nets of checkered work and wreaths of chain work”—likely a fine network covering the whole capital, with chainwork hanging in festive wreaths on the outside.
Seven for the one capital... The Septuagint reading is preferable: “A net for the one capital and a net for the other capital.” Compare 1 Kings 7:41.
