SCRIPTURE

"(for they shall hear of thy great name, and of thy mighty hand, and of thine outstretched arm); when he shall come and pray toward this house;" — 1 Kings 8:42 (ASV)

Great name - This is a somewhat rare expression. It does not appear at all in the Pentateuch, even though phrases like “mighty hand” and “stretched out arm” are common (Exodus 6:6; Exodus 13:9; Deuteronomy 9:29). The phrase is found only once in Joshua (Joshua 7:9) and twice in the Psalms (Psalms 76:1; Psalms 99:3).

Around the time of the captivity, however, the use of this phrase became more frequent (Ezekiel 36:23; Jeremiah 10:6; Jeremiah 44:26).
