"And David took the head of the Philistine, and brought it to Jerusalem; but he put his armor in his tent." — 1 Samuel 17:54 (ASV)
Jerusalem - See the note on Judges 1:8.
His tent - Perhaps this was the tabernacle. David had neither a tent nor a house of his own. It would be quite in accordance with David’s piety that he should immediately dedicate to God the arms taken from the Philistine, in acknowledgment that the victory was not his own but the Lord’s (Compare to 1 Samuel 21:9). The phrase “his tabernacle” refers to the tabernacle he had pitched (2 Samuel 6:17).
