Albert Barnes Commentary 1 Samuel 2:22

"Now Eli was very old; and he heard all that his sons did unto all Israel, and how that they lay with the women that did service at the door of the tent of meeting." — 1 Samuel 2:22 (ASV)

The women who assembled — Or, “served.” See the marginal reference and note. This service probably consisted of work for the tabernacle’s fabric that women were accustomed to doing, such as spinning, knitting, embroidering, mending, and washing.
