"Then Abigail made haste, and took two hundred loaves, and two bottles of wine, and five sheep ready dressed, and five measures of parched grain, and a hundred clusters of raisins, and two hundred cakes of figs, and laid them on asses." — 1 Samuel 25:18 (ASV)

Two bottles - This refers to “two skins,” rather than bottles as we know them, each of which would hold many gallons. These leather vessels varied in size according to the animal skin they were made from and their intended use. The smaller, more portable kind, which may rightly be called bottles, were made from the skin of a kid; larger ones were made from the skin of a he-goat. To this day, Arabs invariably carry their milk, water, and other liquids in such leather vessels. One skin of wine was a generous present from Ziba, sufficient for David’s household (2 Samuel 16:1). These provisions were readily available, as they had been prepared for the sheep-shearing feast.
