Albert Barnes Commentary 1 Samuel 25:44

"Now Saul had given Michal his daughter, David`s wife, to Palti the son of Laish, who was of Gallim." — 1 Samuel 25:44 (ASV)

Saul’s giving Michal to Phalti was intended to mark the final rupture of his own relations with David (2 Samuel 3:7; 2 Samuel 16:21). Phalti, also called Phaltiel, was later compelled by Abner to restore Michal to David (2 Samuel 3:15).

Gallin was a city of Benjamin, in the neighborhood of another town called Laish.
