Albert Barnes Commentary 2 Kings 11:16

"So they made way for her; and she went by the way of the horses` entry to the king`s house: and there was she slain." — 2 Kings 11:16 (ASV)

And they laid hands on her—Most modern critics interpret this to mean “and they gave her space,” that is, they cleared a way for her and allowed her to walk out of the temple not only unharmed but untouched.
