SCRIPTURE

"And Jehovah said not that he would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven; but he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash." — 2 Kings 14:27 (ASV)

And the Lord said not—Though the Israelites were brought so low, the decree for their destruction had not yet gone out. God did not send a prophet to declare that He would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven. On the contrary, He sent two prophets to announce that Israel would be delivered from their present enemies and would triumph over them (see 2 Kings 14:25; 2 Kings 13:17–19).

That he would blot out...—This is a Mosaic phrase, found only here and in Deuteronomy 9:14; 29:20.
