"But Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of Jehovah, that we may inquire of Jehovah by him? And one of the king of Israel`s servants answered and said, Elisha the son of Shaphat is here, who poured water on the hands of Elijah." — 2 Kings 3:11 (ASV)
A prophet of the Lord - That is, a prophet of Yahweh. It was necessary to inquire so specifically, as there were still many prophets who were only prophets of Baal (2 Kings 3:13).
Here is Elisha - Jehoram appears to have been unaware of his presence with the army, and one of his “servants,” or officers, answered Jehoshaphat’s inquiry.
Which poured water - This was an act signifying service or attendance (compare John 13:5 and following).
