SCRIPTURE

"And it came to pass, when Joram saw Jehu, that he said, Is it peace, Jehu? And he answered, What peace, so long as the whoredoms of thy mother Jezebel and her witchcrafts are so many?" — 2 Kings 9:22 (ASV)

Joram had asked the usual question, “Is it peace?” which simply meant, “Is all well?” In Jehu’s reply, “whoredoms” likely refers to idolatries—acts of spiritual unfaithfulness—and “witchcrafts” to dealings with the prophets and oracles of Baal. Compare the note on 2 Kings 1:2.
