SCRIPTURE

"And they took up Asahel, and buried him in the sepulchre of his father, which was in Beth-lehem. And Joab and his men went all night, and the day brake upon them at Hebron." — 2 Samuel 2:32 (ASV)

After stopping the pursuit, Joab and his army spent the night on the battlefield. The next morning, he numbered the missing and buried the dead. They carried Asahel’s body to Bethlehem, buried him there, and then joined David at Hebron.

Hebron was about 14 miles from Bethlehem, a march of about five hours.
