"And Barnabas was minded to take with them John also, who was called Mark." — Acts 15:37 (ASV)
And Barnabas determined. Greek: willed, or was disposed to ebouleusato.
John, etc. (See Barnes on Acts 12:12).
He had been with them before as a traveling companion (Acts 12:25; Acts 13:5). He was the son of a sister of Barnabas (Colossians 4:10); and it is probable that Barnabas's affection for his nephew was the main reason that prompted him to wish to take him with him on the journey.
"Determined": an alternative is "desired." John, whose surname (Acts 12:12, 25; Colossians 4:10).
