Albert Barnes Commentary Acts 18:16

"And he drove them from the judgment-seat." — Acts 18:16 (ASV)

And he drave them, etc. He refused to hear and decide the controversy. He commanded them to depart from the court. The word used here does not denote that there was any violence used by Gallio, but merely that he dismissed them in an authoritative manner.
