"and the third day they cast out with their own hands the tackling of the ship." — Acts 27:19 (ASV)

The tackling of the ship. The anchor, sails, cables, baggage, etc. That is, they threw over everything that was not indispensable to its preservation, for this still seems the case in Acts 27:29.
