Albert Barnes Commentary Acts 7:24

"And seeing one [of them] suffer wrong, he defended him, and avenged him that was oppressed, smiting the Egyptian:" — Acts 7:24 (ASV)

Suffer wrong. The wrong or injury was that the Egyptian was striking the Hebrew (Exodus 2:11–12).

Smote the Egyptian. He killed him and buried him in the sand.
