SCRIPTURE

"And whereas the king saw a watcher and a holy one coming down from heaven, and saying, Hew down the tree, and destroy it; nevertheless leave the stump of the roots thereof in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field, and let it be wet with the dew of heaven: and let his portion be with the beasts of the field, till seven times pass over him;" — Daniel 4:23 (ASV)

The recapitulation in this verse is slightly varied from the statement in (Daniel 4:14–16), yet not so as to materially affect the meaning. Daniel seems to have designed to recall the principal circumstances in the dream, in order to identify it in the king’s mind and to prepare him for the statement of the fearful events that were to happen to him.
