Albert Barnes Commentary Daniel 6:23

"Then was the king exceeding glad, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no manner of hurt was found upon him, because he had trusted in his God." — Daniel 6:23 (ASV)

Then was the king exceeding glad for him – On account of Daniel. That is, he rejoiced for Daniel's sake that he had received no hurt, and that he might be restored to his position and be useful again in the government.
