Albert Barnes Commentary Ezekiel 36:13

"Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because they say unto you, Thou [land] art a devourer of men, and hast been a bereaver of thy nation;" — Ezekiel 36:13 (ASV)

The judgments which God sent upon the land had so destroyed the inhabitants that people deemed it a fatal land, which brought destruction to all who would occupy it (compare to 2 Kings 17:25).
