SCRIPTURE

"And the south side southward shall be from Tamar as far as the waters of Meriboth-kadesh, to the brook [of Egypt], unto the great sea. This is the south side southward." — Ezekiel 47:19 (ASV)

The south border begins with “Tamar,” probably a village near the southern end of the Dead Sea. The word means “palm-tree;” and is given to more than one city in the Holy Land.

The river to the great sea - literally, “riverward to the great sea.” By the “river” is meant the torrent-stream entering the Mediterranean near “Rhinocolura” (El Arish).
