Albert Barnes Commentary Ezra 3:10

"And when the builders laid the foundation of the temple of Jehovah, they set the priests in their apparel with trumpets, and the Levites the sons of Asaph with cymbals, to praise Jehovah, after the order of David king of Israel." — Ezra 3:10 (ASV)

They set the priests — Or, according to another reading, “The priests stood.”

The Levites the sons of Asaph — that is, “such of the Levites as were descendants of Asaph.” It would seem as if no descendants of Heman or Jeduthun had returned.
