Albert Barnes Commentary Galatians 5:24

"And they that are of Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with the passions and the lusts thereof." — Galatians 5:24 (ASV)

And they that are Christ's. All who are true Christians.

Have crucified the flesh. The corrupt passions of the soul have been put to death, that is, destroyed. They are as though they were dead, and have no power over us. See Barnes on Galatians 2:20.

With the affections. The marginal reading is passions. All corrupt desires.

And lusts. See Barnes on Romans 1:24.
