Albert Barnes Commentary Jeremiah 2:12

"Be astonished, O ye heavens, at this, and be horribly afraid, be ye very desolate, saith Jehovah." — Jeremiah 2:12 (ASV)

Be astonished - The King James Version uses this word as equivalent to “to be stupefied.”

Desolate - Or, “be dry.” In horror at Israel’s conduct the heavens shrivel and dry up.
