SCRIPTURE

"And all the nations shall serve him, and his son, and his son`s son, until the time of his own land come: and then many nations and great kings shall make him their bondman." — Jeremiah 27:7 (ASV)

His son, and his son’s son – Evil-Merodach and Nabonadius (see Daniel 5:1 note).

Shall serve themselves of him – See the marginal reference. After long servitude to the Persian and Median kings, the Seleucidae ruined the remains of Babylon.
