"Destruction upon destruction is cried; for the whole land is laid waste: suddenly are my tents destroyed, [and] my curtains in a moment." — Jeremiah 4:20 (ASV)

Destruction ... - Or, breaking upon breaking (Jeremiah 4:6). The news of one breaking, one violent calamity, closely follows another.

My curtains - The curtains of the tent, used here for the tents themselves. Tents were the ordinary habitations of the Israelites.
