SCRIPTURE

"Of Kedar, and of the kingdoms of Hazor, which Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon smote. Thus saith Jehovah: Arise ye, go up to Kedar, and destroy the children of the east." — Jeremiah 49:28 (ASV)

Hazor, derived from a word meaning an unwalled village, is a general designation for those Arab tribes who were partially settled, while Kedar signifies the Bedouin, who used only tents. Some think that Hazor is another way of spelling Jetur, that is, Ituraea, whose inhabitants, along with the Kedarites, would naturally be called the sons of the East.

Will smite - Or, smote.
