"and the prophets shall become wind, and the word is not in them: thus shall it be done unto them." — Jeremiah 5:13 (ASV)

Word - Rather, speaker. Literally, And he who speaks is not in them, that is, there is no one who speaks in them; what the prophets say has no higher authority than themselves.

Thus ... - that is, May the evil which the prophets threaten fall upon their head.
