Albert Barnes Commentary Jeremiah 50:35

"A sword is upon the Chaldeans, saith Jehovah, and upon the inhabitants of Babylon, and upon her princes, and upon her wise men." — Jeremiah 50:35 (ASV)

Omit "is." A summons comes from Yahweh, Israel’s Goel, to the sword to fall upon all the elements of Babylon’s greatness. The princes were her rulers at home and her generals in war. The wise men were those upon whose learning she so prided herself (see the note on Daniel 1:4).
