SCRIPTURE

"My people have been lost sheep: their shepherds have caused them to go astray; they have turned them away on the mountains; they have gone from mountain to hill; they have forgotten their resting-place." — Jeremiah 50:6 (ASV)

Their shepherds ... mountains - Some translate it: Their shepherds, that is, civil rulers (see the note on Jeremiah 2:8), “have led them astray upon the seducing mountains” - the mountains being the usual places where idolatry was practiced.

Their restingplace - Their fold (Psalms 23:2).
