Albert Barnes Commentary Job 15:24

"Distress and anguish make him afraid; They prevail against him, as a king ready to the battle." — Job 15:24 (ASV)

As a king ready to the battle - Fully prepared for a battle; whom it would be futile to attempt to resist. So mighty would be the combined forces of trouble and anguish against him, that it would be futile to attempt to oppose them.
