Albert Barnes Commentary John 13:22

"The disciples looked one on another, doubting of whom he spake." — John 13:22 (ASV)

Doubting of whom, etc. The word translated doubting denotes that kind of anxiety which one feels when one is in perplexity and does not know what to say or do. We should say they were at a loss. See Barnes (Matthew 26:22).
