Albert Barnes Commentary

Albert Barnes Commentary
"Behold, O Jehovah; for I am in distress; my heart is troubled; My heart is turned within me; for I have grievously rebelled: Abroad the sword bereaveth, at home there is as death." — Lamentations 1:20 (ASV)
Troubled - Or, inflamed with sorrow.
Turned within me - Agitated violently.
At home there is as death - that is, “in the house” there are pale pining forms, wasting with hunger, and presenting the appearance of death.
