SCRIPTURE

"Mine eye runneth down with streams of water, for the destruction of the daughter of my people. Mine eye poureth down, and ceaseth not, without any intermission, Till Jehovah look down, and behold from heaven. Mine eye affecteth my soul, because of all the daughters of my city." — Lamentations 3:48-51 (ASV)

The deep sympathy of the prophet, which pours itself forth in abundant tears over the distress of his people (Lamentations 3:51).

Or, Mine eye causes pain to my soul, that is, makes my soul ache, because of the sad fate of the maidens (Lamentations 1:4, Lamentations 1:18, and following).
