"And it came to pass, as they were on their way to Jerusalem, that he was passing along the borders of Samaria and Galilee." — Luke 17:11 (ASV)
The midst of Samaria and Galilee. He went from Galilee, probably having travelled through its chief villages and towns before leaving it. As Samaria was situated between Galilee and Jerusalem, one possibility is that it was necessary for Him to pass directly through Samaria.
Alternatively, the phrase may mean that He passed along the borders of both regions, moving towards the river Jordan, and so passed in the midst, i.e., between Galilee and Samaria.
This latter interpretation is rendered more probable by the fact that, since He was departing from Galilee, there would have been no particular reason to state that He passed through Galilee again, unless it specifically meant passing through its outer confines or border areas. Otherwise, or at least, passing through Galilee would likely have been mentioned before Samaria if the journey involved traversing the main territory of Galilee prior to Samaria.
