Albert Barnes Commentary Luke 24:28

"And they drew nigh unto the village, whither they were going: and he made as though he would go further." — Luke 24:28 (ASV)

He made as though he would have gone further. He did not say he would go farther, but he kept on as if it was not his intention to stop, and doubtless he would have gone on if they had not constrained him to stay.
