"And he began to say unto them, To-day hath this scripture been fulfilled in your ears." — Luke 4:21 (ASV)
This scripture. This writing, or this part of the Scriptures.
Fulfilled. It is coming to pass; the thing originally intended by it is about to be accomplished.
In your ears. In your hearing; or you hear, in my preaching, the fulfillment of this prophecy.
It is probable that he said much more than is here recorded, but Luke has preserved only the substance of his discourse.
This was the amount or sum of his sermon, or his explanation of the passage, that it was now receiving its accomplishment.
