SCRIPTURE

"Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known." — Matthew 10:26 (ASV)

Fear them not, etc. He encouraged them with the assurance that God would protect them and that their truth and innocence would eventually be vindicated.

It is probable that the declaration, There is nothing covered, etc., was a proverb among the Jews. By it, our Savior meant that their innocence, their principles, and their integrity—though the world might not then acknowledge them—would in due time be revealed; or God would vindicate them, and the universe would do them justice.

They were, then, to be willing to be unknown, despised, and persecuted for a time, with the assurance that their true characters would eventually be understood and their sufferings appreciated.
