"he that saith he abideth in him ought himself also to walk even as he walked." — 1 John 2:6 (ASV)
Himself also to walk (κα αυτος περιπατειν). Present active infinitive after οφειλε (ought), "Himself also to keep on walking," a continuous performance, not a spasmodic spurt.
Even as he walked (καθως εκεινος περιεπατησεν). Constative aorist active indicative summing up the life of Christ on earth with the emphatic use of the demonstrative εκεινος in reference to Christ as in 3:3,5,7,16; 4:17; John 7:11; 9:12,28; 19:21.
