"For we have not here an abiding city, but we seek after [the city] which is to come." — Hebrews 13:14 (ASV)

An abiding city (μενουσαν πολιν). Jerusalem has lost its charm for followers of Christ. Vincent rightly argues that the Epistle must have been written before the destruction of Jerusalem else a reference to that event could hardly have been avoided here. We are now where Abraham was once (11:10).
