"And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God; and I was sent to speak unto thee, and to bring thee these good tidings." — Luke 1:19 (ASV)

Gabriel (Γαβριηλ). The Man of God (Daniel 8:6; Daniel 9:21). The other angel whose name is given in Scripture is Michael (Daniel 10:13,21; Jude 1:9; Revelation 12:7). The description of himself is a rebuke to the doubt of Zacharias.
