"Likewise even as it came to pass in the days of Lot; they ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;" — Luke 17:28 (ASV)

Note the same sharp contrast between the imperfects here (ate ησθιον,

drank επινον,

bought ηγοραζον,

sold επωλουν,

planted εφυτευον,

builded ωικοδομουν) and the aorists in verse 29 (went out εξηλθεν,

rained εβρεξεν,

destroyed απωλεσεν).
