"And it came to pass, as he drew nigh unto Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the way side begging:" — Luke 18:35 (ASV)
Unto Jericho (εις Ιερειχω). See on Mt 20:29; Mr 10:46, for discussion of the two Jerichos in Mark and Matt. (the old and the new as here).
Begging (επαιτων). Asking for something. He probably was by the wayside between the old Jericho and the new Roman Jericho. Mark gives his name Bartimaeus (10:46). Matthew 20:30 mentions two.
